CA Farmers Want WA Orcas Off Endangered Species List

CALIFORNIA  (Metro)  -- There's word that California farmers now want Puget Sound Orca killer whales off the federal Endangered Species List.

"The Seattle Times" says the listing of the whales in 2005 restricted irrigation in California, making it harder for the farmers to get bank loans.

The Pacific Legal Foundation, which fights endangered species listings, is representing the farmers.

Environmentalists are fighting the effort.
