County Holds Last Meeting To Comment On Coal Terminal

WHATCOM, Wash. -- The last public meeting in Whatcom County where you can submit comments and learn more about the Gateway Pacific Terminal is being held this week.

The meeting will help officials determine the scope of the upcoming environmental review of the proposed coal shipping terminal at Cherry Point.

The meeting will be held in Ferndale on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Ferndale Events Center.

Craig Cole with the Gateway Pacific Terminal says he plans to deliver 10,000 signatures in support of the project Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Whatcom County Courthouse.

He says the signatures will also be submitted to the agencies working on the environmental review.

People can comment on the project online through January 21 at www.eisgatewaypacificwa.gov.
