Bill Coming In For 2012 Central Washington Firefighting Effort

YAKIMA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- The bill for fighting the record wave of wildfires in Central Washington this past summer is coming in.

According to a "Yakima Herald Republic" article reprinted in "The Seattle Times," the total looks like $67 million.

About half of that will go to wages and benefits for firefighters.

Fortunately for the state, the federal government sometimes shares firefighting costs.
