Bales Hearing Ends At Joint Base Lewis-McChord

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash.  (Metro)  -- An Army prosecutor has called on the Army to pursue first-degree murder charges against Staff Sergeant Robert Bales in the murders of 16 Afghan civilians earlier this year.

His request followed a long hearing at Joint Base Lewis-McChord to determine whether charges should be filed.
Bales attorneys have said he's not guilty.

Bales could get the death penalty if the Army decides to go ahead with a trial.
