Stranded Snowboarders Spending 2nd Night On Mount Rainier

MT. RANIER, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Two snowboarders are spending a second night on Mount Rainier, stranded by a storm that's kept rescuers from getting to them.

Twenty-year-old Thomas Dale and 21-year-old Derek Tyndall have been stuck on Washington State's highest mountain since late Sunday afternoon, when they called 911.

Rescue crews spotted two people matching the young men's description late Monday, but poor weather and the approach of nightfall kept rescuers from getting to them.

The search will resume at first light.

Authorities spoke with Dale and Tyndall Monday morning.

They said they'd dug a snow cave and were cold, but in good shape.
