SEATTLE, Wash. (Metro) -- The University of Washington is officially asking state officials to let it lift a long freeze on salaries, and for the Legislature to help pick up the tab on any pay increases.
UW President Michael Young says his is the only major research university in the country that's given no raises for four years now.
Governor Christine Gregoire is reviewing the request.
One Legislative leader tells "The Seattle Times" that there's simply no money.
