Port Commissions Puts Off Exec. Director Decision

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Port of Bellingham Commission has delayed a decision on who will be the port’s next Executive Director.

The Port Commission was scheduled to take action on naming the new Director at its meeting yesterday, but Commission President Scott Walker says the decision is taking longer than expected.

Walker says commissioners will hold a private meeting Friday to further discuss who will get the executive director position, but he says the board may not be ready to make a final decision at that time.

The Port Commission is considering three finalists for the position: Jonathan Daniels from the Port of Oswego, Bill Panos from West Sacramento, and Les Reardanz from the Port of Everett.

Former Executive Director Charlie Sheldon resigned in April after criticism over his spending decisions.
