Hunter Found Dead On Sumas Mountain

WHATCOM, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Whatcom County Sheriff's Deputies and Search and Rescue volunteers discovered the body of a missing deer hunter Friday on Sumas Mountain.

Deputy Mark Jilk says they don't suspect any foul play.

Seventy-one-year-old Bruce Baller of Bellingham was reported missing Thursday evening after he went out deer hunting in the north fork road area Wednesday and didn't return.

Deputies checked the roads near slide and Racehorse Mountains but found no sign of Baller.

Deputies returned on Friday along with Search and Rescue volunteers.

They found Baller's body near his vehicle on Paradise Valley Road on Sumas Mountain at about 3:00 that afternoon.
