Local Nurse Helps NY Recover From Hurricane Sandy

New Rochelle, NY -- A local nurse is helping people pick up the pieces from Hurricane Sandy.

Sarah Judy is a registered nurse from Nooksack and a volunteer with the Mount Baker chapter of the Red Cross.

She's currently working at a shelter at a middle school in New Rochelle, New York, where half of the residents have no electricity.

She says the town wasn't hit as hard as many areas in the state, and most of the resident's homes were not seriously damaged.

The town could be without power for 10 days.

The Mount Baker Red Cross sent Judy and another volunteer to the area last weekend before the hurricane hit.
