Semiahmoo Hotel Closing Its Doors

BLAINE, Wash. -- The Semiahmoo Hotel is shutting down.

The owners of the Semiahmoo Hotel in Blaine have announced they will be closing the struggling hotel on December 1.

The Semiahmoo Resort Company announced yesterday it will continue trying to sell the hotel.

With nearly 200 employees, the hotel was Blaine's largest employer.

The company says in a press release that group conference bookings plunged at the Semiahmoo Hotel after the great recession and never recovered.

Daily bookings recovered somewhat in recent years, but not enough to allow the hotel to continue operating.

The company also owns the Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club and Loomis Trail Golf Club, and they say the golf courses will stay open with business as usual.
