Public Meeting To Discuss Gateway Pacific Terminal

BELLINGHAM, Wash.  (Mike Curtiss)  -- A public meeting where you can submit comments and learn more about the Gateway Pacific Terminal will be held in Bellingham Saturday.

The meeting on the scope of the upcoming environmental review of the proposed coal-shipping terminal at Cherry Point is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Squalicum High School on East McLeod Road.

Larry Altose with the state Department of Ecology says it's a chance to tell officials what you think should be studied in the review.

He says officials are not making any decision on the proposed terminal at this point in the process.

People can also comment online through January 21 at www.eisgatewaypacificwa.gov.

Another public meeting will be held in Ferndale on November 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Ferndale Events Center.
