SEATTLE, Wash. (Metro) -- The so-called "Millennium Bomber" is being given a harsher sentence for plotting to bomb Los Angeles International Airport in 1999.
Ahmed Ressam had been sentenced to 22 years in prison, but an appeals court ruled his sentence was too lenient.
His sentence has been lengthened by another 15 years.
Federal prosecutors wanted him to spend life behind bars for backing out on a deal to assist in the prosecution of other suspected militants.
Ressam was arrested in Port Angeles in December of 1999.
