Unemployment Down Sharply In Whatcom County



Whatcom County, WA -- Unemployment was down sharply in Whatcom County  in September.

Preliminary numbers from the state Employment Security Department show a jobless rate of 7% last month, down from a revised rate of 7.6% in August.

The local rate stood at 7.7% a year ago.

The preliminary, non-seasonally adjusted statewide unemployment rate was 7.7% in September.
