Canadian Border Officer Shot at Peace Arch

BLAINE, Wash. -- A man has shot a Canada Border Services Agency officer in the neck at the Peace Arch Port of Entry.

CTV B.C. reports that the shooter is dead, and the Canada Border Services Agency confirms that the female border officer has been airlifted to the hospital.

All lanes of Northbound I-5 at the Peace Arch are closed due to police activity. Northbound drivers are being diverted to the Pacific Highway crossing.

The shooting occurred just after 2 p.m. Tuesday on the Canadian side of the border.

Witnesses tell CTV that the gunman shot himself, and that he may have been driving a white van with Washington license plates.
