Canadian Sex Offender Living In Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Questions surround the restrictions placed on a man charged with sex crimes in Canada who currently lives in Bellingham.

Forty-year-old Todd Ronald Hildebrand has been charged with six sex crimes for incidents involving a 13-year-old victim that took place ten years ago in Abbotsford, B.C.

Constable Ian MacDonald with the royal Canadian Mounted Police says Hildebrand was arrested last month after the victim came forward.

Hildebrand is restricted from going to parks, schools or any place where children are expected to be present, but its unknown if those restrictions are enforceable here in Bellingham.

Hildebrand is 6 foot 3 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police say people should report any violations of the restrictions that Hildebrand may make, and then the courts can figure out what legally can or can’t be done about it.
