Alaska officials said in a tweet yesterday morning that their internet provider, Sprint, was experiencing a network outage that shut down their ability to check-in passengers.
Sprint spokesperson Crystal Davis says the network went down and couldn't automatically re-route itself after two fiber-optic cable lines were cut, one in Wisconsin and another somewhere between Portland and Seattle.
Some sprint wireless customers in the northwest also saw disruptions to their voice and data services.
The problem was resolved shortly before 1 p.m. Alaska Airlines told affected passengers they could rebook at no charge.
