SKAGIT, Wash. -- A Skagit County teenager is dead after falling off a cliff near an abandoned gravel pit on Lake Shannon just north of Concrete.
The Skagit County sheriff’s office says 17-year-old Mitchell Latting was reported to have fallen around 10:30 Friday night off the 50 to 75 foot cliff near Baker River Road.
Rescuers found Latting dead at the base of the cliff. Deputies say there had been a large gathering at the gravel pit that night, and alcohol may have been a factor in Latting's death.
