Officials Suspect Arson In String Of Fires

MOUNT VERNON, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Officials say three fires that have occurred in Mount Vernon over the past month may have been the result of arson.

Authorities say the most recent incident happened around 1:50 Wednesday morning at a home on South 15th Street, where the homeowner was able to extinguish a fire outside his front door and another on his pickup truck.

Mount Vernon Fire Chief Steve Riggs says the other fires happened at a vacant house on East Section Street and near the Mount Vernon School District administration building.
