Late-Night Runs May Be Trimmed From Mukilteo Ferry Route

OLYMPIA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Governor Christine Gregoire is mulling over recommendations from the Washington State Department of Transportation that outline about $5 million in cuts from the Washington State Ferries operating budget.  .

The cuts would include discontinuing late-night runs between Mukilteo and Clinton and using only one boat for the Port Townsend-Coupeville run for an additional four weeks per year.

The transportation department says the adjustments would save a combined $1.4 million.

The recommendations also include the possibility of trimming ferry service between San Juan Island and British Columbia.
