Man Arrested After Confronting Smoking Pregnant Woman

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A debate over smoking during pregnancy has led to assault charges in Bellingham.

Police say a Sudden Valley man pointed a gun at smoking pregnant woman near downtown Bellingham on Wednesday.

The pregnant woman was smoking a cigarette on Holly Street when 24-year-old Justin Palmer pulled up in his pickup truck and confronted her.

Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young says officers searched Palmer's truck and found two guns matching the weapon that the woman described to officers.

Palmer was booked into Whatcom County jail on suspicion of assault.
