Tacoma's Puracal Released From Nicaraguan Prison

TACOMA, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Tacoma resident and University of Washington graduate Jason Puracal is released from a Nicaraguan prison, where's he's been incarcerated for nearly two years.

He was freed after a three judge panel in Nicaragua ruled earlier this week to absolve Puracal, who was ordered to serve a 22 year sentence after being found guilty of money laundering.

The panel said the sentencing judge had failed to carefully examine the evidence and explain the reasons for convicting Puracal.
