Citizens Move To Recall Mt. Baker School Board Member

WHATCOM, Wash. -- A group of citizens in the Mount Baker School District is trying to recall a school board member for the district's involvement with the Lake Whatcom land reconveyance.

The Whatcom Land Trust gave $.5 million to the School District last December under the condition that the district would not oppose the reconveyance.

School district resident John Lamonte claims that school board chair Russ Pfeiffer-Hoyt may have a conflict of interests.
He claims that Pfeiffer-Hoyt was a member of the advisory board for Whatcom Land Trust from 2003 to 2004.

He says 14 people have signed the recall petition.

The group originally tried to recall all of the school board members, but decided to focus on the district chair.
