Ailing singer John Mayer is returning to the stage to perform with rapper Frank Ocean on the upcoming season premiere of Saturday Night Live.

The "Daughters" hitmaker underwent a second operation to remove a granuloma from his vocal cords on Aug. 27 and he was subsequently put on voice rest for six months.

But, although Mayer will not be able to sing until February, when doctors expect his throat surgery to be properly healed, the 34 year old has refused to stay out of the spotlight, making plans to appear with Ocean on live TV on Saturday.

A post on the rapper's Twitter account reads, "SNL this weekend. Me and the bro John Mayer."
