Bellingham Police Chief Announces Retirement



BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Bellingham Police Chief Todd Ramsay has announced he will retire from public service at the end of the year.

Mayor Kelli Linville says Ramsay has made many contributions to the community through his work to partner with local organizations and residents, and his work as an advocate for local youth.



Linville says she thanks Chief Ramsay for his service to the city and his commitment to the public.



Ramsay has spent his entire career in Bellingham.

He joined the police department as an intern in 1982 and became a commissioned officer in 1987.

Ramsay was promoted to chief of police in February of 2008.

He said in a statement, quote, "it has been my honor and privilege to be able to serve our community."
