Bellingham Police Catch Attempted Rape Suspect

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Bellingham police capture a suspect who sexually assaulted a barista.

Spokesman Mark Young says the suspect is a juvenile and was arrested without incident with help from the Police Tip Line and positive photo identification from the 25-year-old victim.

Officers asked last week for the public’s help finding the suspect after he attacked the victim at the Lakeway Cruisin’ Coffee the week before.

The woman was able to fight off her attacker.

Young says the 17-year-old suspect was booked into Juvenile Detention for First Degree Attempted Rape.
