A Custer man is dead following a three vehicle crash in Whatcom County last evening.

The State Patrol reports 72- year-old Joel Crowley was driving a 1993 Toyota Corolla northbound on Custer School Road at about 6:30 p.m. Monday when he ran a stop sign at Birch Bay Lynden Road.

His car was broadsided on the driver side by a GMC Yukon driven by 33-year-old Heather Larson of Custer which then collided with a Ford Mustang.

Crowley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Larson and a passenger in the Mustang, identified as 61-year-old Babette Bennett of Custer, were injured and transported to Peacehealth St. Joseph Medical Center.

Two passengers in Larson’s S-U-V, including her 1 year old son, were not hurt.

The driver of the Mustang and another passenger suffered minor injuries.
