Plane Lands on Freeway Near Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Authorities are saying it’s incredible no one was injured when a small plane made an emergency landing on I-5 north of Bellingham Friday afternoon.

Port of Bellingham spokeswoman Carolyn Casey says the single-engine Cessna was near Bellingham International Airport at about 1:45 p.m. when it had some kind of engine trouble.

She says the pilot was able to bring the airplane down onto the northbound lanes of the freeway and taxi to the AM-PM gas station using the Slater Road off-ramp from I-5.

Casey says a vehicle on the freeway was damaged in during the landing.
