EVERETT, Wash. (Metro) -- When singer Richard Marx was having problems with a possible stalker earlier this year, he didn't hire a private security firm or make a big public announcement.
Instead, he called Snohomish County sheriff's detective Lee Malkow.
Twenty years ago, Malkow helped find a stalker that was harassing Marx, so the singer hoped she could do the same this time.
Initially, Marx feared that the stalker from 20 years ago had come back.
Embarrassing and harassing tweets were appearing on Marx's Twitter feed, and the stalker even claimed to be Marx's illegitimate child.
It took several months, but Malkow was able to track the messages back to a Bellingham woman, who was charged with cyberstalking and first-degree computer trespass.
A judge in Whatcom County has ordered a mental evaluation for the woman, whose name was not released.
