Anti-Canadian Facebook Page Gets Media Attention

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A Facebook page is getting attention from Canadian media for saying that "Bellingham Costco needs a special time just for Americans."

The page has attracted a slew of anti- Canadian comments since it joined Facebook on July 19.

But Ken Oplinger with the Bellingham/Whatcom Chamber of Commerce and Industry says the page does not reflect the opinions of most Bellingham residents...

He points out that Canadian shoppers are an important part of Bellingham's economy.

The page's founders blame Canadians for being rude and crowding the Bellingham Costco store.

They ask the big-box store to create business hours just for American customers.

The page has gathered more than 2,000 "likes."
