Park-And-Ride Proposed For Alger

ALGER, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Skagit Transit officials are proposing construction of a new park-and-ride off Interstate 5 in Alger.

The agency's executive director, Dale O'Brien says the park-and-ride, which would be located on land donated in 1998, is needed for commuters who travel between Skagit County and Bellingham.

O'Brien says funding would come from a one-point-two-million dollar state regional mobility grant awarded to Skagit Transit.

The agency is currently working on acquiring a critical-areas variance, which is required before construction on the project can start.
