LYNDEN, Wash.  (Metro)  -- The Northwest Washington Fair in Lynden begins Monday and continues through the week.

The Fair comes as health officials are warning the public to be careful around pigs at county fairs after more than 150 cases of swine flu were reported around the country this week.

Lynden Fair Manager Jim Baron says they've taken precautions...



The disease is mostly spread by close contact with infected pigs.

The Centers for Disease Control says the best way fair-goers can protect themselves from swine flu is to wash their hands frequently with soap and water.

Baron says hand-washing stations are located outside all the animal barns at the fair.

People should also be careful not to take any food or drinks around animals at the fair.
