Three Injured After Motorist Falls Asleep

CONCRETE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Washington Highway Patrol says three people were injured after a 71-year-old man fell asleep at the wheel of his pickup truck outside the Skagit County community of Concrete.

Troopers say the 71-year-old man was driving his wife and teenage grandson home to Everett yesterday afternoon after a fishing trip when he nodded off and slammed his pickup into a tree along Baker Lake Road.

Police say the woman suffered serious injuries and is being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The man and his grandson are being treated at Skagit Valley hospital.
