The "Dumb & Dumber" sequel is back on - Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey are just awaiting a polished script and hope to start shooting with the Farrelly Brothers early next year.

Carrey reportedly dropped out of the project earlier this summer, just two months after the director siblings announced plans to reboot the 1994 comedy about two dim-witted pals, citing frustrations with the project's lack of progress, but Daniels insists his co-star is back on board.

He says, "We almost were able to kinda get it done this year, but they're still working on the script."

"Jim wants to do it, I want to do it, the Farrellys want to do it... We're all hoping that it'll come together early next year."
