Waste Management Replacing Drivers As Strike Continues



SEATTLE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Waste Management says it's bringing in "permanent" non-union garbage truck drivers to replace striking Teamsters Local 117 drivers in King and Snohomish counties. 

The drivers have been on strike for a week over issues regarding pay and benefits. 

Waste Management officials say garbage will be picked up today at commercial buildings in all areas it serves in the Seattle area. 

The company says it will also provide residential garbage pickup in Algona, Auburn, Bothell, Federal Way, Kirkland, Maple Valley, Mill Creek, Redmond, Renton, and Seattle.
