Wendy’s Employee, Witnesses Prevent Bellingham Car-Jacking

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Witnesses jumped to action when a suspect tried to car-jack an elderly man in broad daylight in Bellingham.

The 80-year-old victim and his 77-year-old female companion were confronted at the Samish Way Wendy’s Monday afternoon by 31-year-old Reggie Williams.

Police say Williams demanded the victim’s keys, and pushed the man to the ground when he refused.

Police spokesman Mark Young says the victim was not seriously injured.

A female employee of the restaurant and other witnesses stopped Williams from taking the man’s car...

Williams was booked into the Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of robbery, assault and vehicle theft.

The victim and his companion stayed at the restaurant after the assault to enjoy their meal.
