BURLINGTON, Wash. (Metro) -- The Seattle-area's garbage strike is expanding to Skagit County in the seventh day of a walkout by union drivers.
Komonews.com reports Waste Management's union drivers at the Burlington facility are honoring the picket lines of their striking Teamster coworkers.
Drivers serving North Snohomish and Skagit Counties set up their picket line around five o'clock this morning.
Teamsters Local 117 spokeswoman Brenda Wiest said yesterday that the union sent a confidential proposal to end the walkout to a federal mediator Sunday night.
Company officials said they were looking it over yesterday.
The strike has stopped recycling and garbage service for over 200-thousand customers in the Seattle-Everett area.
Waste Management continues to bring in replacement drivers from out of state to make priority trash pickups.
