Bruce Springsteen bonded with manager during surgery

Bruce Springsteen developed a special bond with his longtime manager when he recently underwent major brain surgery.

Jon Landau tells the New Yorker magazine that The Boss was often at his bedside, helping his manager through some desperate times when he thought he was on the verge of death.

Landau tells the magazine, "He knew I was going through something, and I thought I was going to die. It wasn't rational, but the fear was there... We shared a lot of deep talk."

The surgery to remove a growth near Landau's optic nerves was a success and the music mogul has since recovered, but he lost vision in one eye.
