Parks And Rec Ask For Public Comment On Big Rock Garden

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department is asking for public opinion about a proposal to improve Big Rock Garden Park on Sylvan Street and reduce city expenses by seeking a lease arrangement for park management.

James King, the Director of Bellingham Parks and Recreation says this park requires a higher level of maintenance than other neighborhood parks.

He says despite volunteer efforts, the Department has fallen short of maintenance goals due to diminishing resources.

King says the Department is still just looking for input as no decisions have been made.

A meeting to will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Bloedel-Donovan Park Community Building  to gather public comments.
