FERNDALE, Wash. -- A man wanted on suspicion of assaulting a jogger near Ferndale has surrendered to police.
Thirty-year-old Gavin Haggith is suspected of swerving his car into the jogger on Brown Road last Thursday evening.
Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo says Haggith then got out of the car and punched the jogger in the face, fracturing his jaw.
Elfo says deputies quickly identified Haggith as a suspect...
Haggith turned himself in at the Whatcom County Jail early Monday. He's facing first and second-degree assault charges.
Sheriff Elfo says it was a random attack, spurred by an act of road rage.
Haggith has a history of committing violent felonies, including a robbery at a Bellingham Starvin' Sams store in 2009.
The 42-year-old jogger required surgery to his jaw and is now recovering.
