BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Police say a fight over dirty dishes at a Bellingham apartment drove a man to throw a fork into another man's eye.
Bellingham Police Spokesman Mark Young says the fight started after 18-year-old Christopher Gushwa got angry at a roommate and his friend for leaving dirty dishes in their apartment in the 900 block of North State Street.
The suspect confronted the roommate and his friend outside the apartment when they returned around 4 p.m. Monday.
Officer Young says Gushwa threw a fork at his roommate's friend from a distance of about 5-10 feet away, hitting him in the left eye.
Gushwa was arrested for investigation of third-degree felony assault.
The victim had to go to the hospital on Tuesday for surgery to repair the damage to his eye.
