Investigation Continues Into Deadly Oak Harbor Crash

OAK HARBOR, Wash. (Metro)  -- Investigators are trying to determine what caused a 24-year-old Anacortes man to veer into oncoming traffic and slam head-on into an SUV on Highway 20 last night.

Ryan Ziegler died at the scene.

Washington State Trooper Keith Leary tells komonews.com there are no indications that drugs or alcohol were involved.

He says Ziegler was southbound on Highway 20 just after 8 p.m., when he crashed into a Cadillac Escalade heading the opposite direction.

A 64-year-old woman passenger in the SUV was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with unknown injuries.

The 75-year-old man driving the SUV was taken to Whidbey General Hospital.
