Rules of the Road for Towing a Trailer

BELLINGHAM, WA -- With camping and boating season underway Washington State Patrol is reminding drivers the rules of the road when driving with a trailer.

State Trooper Ryan Tanner says driving with a trailer means you can’t necessarily drive how you would any other time.

Tanner says trailers blocking the left lane is one of the biggest frustrations for drivers and creates unsafe conditions on the freeway.

He advices other drivers to be cautious around cars with trailers attached and give them plenty of space to maneuver.

Tanner also says to check tires, and be sure all trailers are hooks properly to the vehicle before hitting the road.
