WA Politicians React To SCOTUS Ruling

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Washington politicians are reacting to yesterday's U.S. Supreme Court Decision to uphold most of the healthcare reform law.

In an historic 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court has ruled that the 2010 Affordable Care Act is constitutional.

Washington Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler says he's pleased with the decision.

He says a number of the reforms in President Obama's landmark healthcare law are already taking effect in our state.

But State Republican Party Chair Kirby Wilbur says he thinks the ruling will hurt Obama in the long run...

The high court upheld the constitutionality of the law's individual mandate that requires most Americans to purchase health insurance coverage - as long as it is a tax.
