Home In Paradise Goes Up In Flames Killing One

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. -- A manufactured home goes up in flames leaving one person dead in the Paradise Lakes area.

Firefighters and Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the blaze on Poppy Court in Maple Falls shortly after 9 a.m. yesterday.

Sheriff Bill Elfo says firefighters extinguished the blaze then found a body near the front door of the home.

He says it'll take some time to determine the cause of the fire...

Elfo says the body was taken to the medical examiner’s office.

The Whatcom County Humane Society took custody of some dogs and goats and other livestock outside the residence.

The medical examiner is working on identifying the body as authorities investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
