Avalanche Danger Stalls Recovery Of Fallen Ranger's Body

SEATTLE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- Rescue crews are hoping snow conditions improve enough on Mount Rainier today to allow them to retrieve the body of fallen park ranger Nick Hall, who fell to his death last week trying to rescue four climbers.

Days of clouds finally gave way to sunshine on the mountain yesterday, but avalanche danger made it too dangerous to try the recovery.

Hall's family members, who arrived this week from their home in Maine, understand they will have to wait awhile longer.

In the meantime, they will return to the mountain on Friday for a private memorial service at the visitors' center.
