MT. BAKER, Wash. -- We’re rounding the corner to sockeye season and the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest is expecting Baker Lake to be just as packed as ever.

Last year more than 4,000 trailers and 9,300 fishermen tried their luck at the big catch.

Carol Gladsjo with the National Forest says the Department of Fish and Wildlife is opening the season early this year and the week of Fourth of July should be one of the busiest.



Gladsjo says just because the season is open, it doesn’t necessarily mean the fish are there yet especially with the season opening on July 1st.

Gladsjo asks that early morning fishers be considerate of campers as quiet hours don’t end until 8 a.m.
