Suspicious Fire Continues To Burn In Marysville Tire Pile

MARYSVILLE, Wash.  (Metro)  -- A suspicious fire continues to smolder in a huge mound of old tires in Marysville.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reports the blaze started around 10 p.m. on State Avenue, where tires are stacked in a ten-foot-tall pile in an open field near the Factory Outlet Mall.

Fire crews say the flames originated in the tires, spreading to nearby brush, but they didn't threaten any buildings.

A plume of thick black smoke was seen for several hours.

Investigators think the fire could be linked to a troubled past with a homeless encampment there.
