Seattle Man Dead In Mt. Baker Skiing Accident



MT. BAKER, Wash. -- A Seattle man has died in a tragic skiing accident on Mt. Baker.

The Whatcom County sheriff's office received a report Friday afternoon that a person had possibly skied over a cliff at the Coleman headwall on Mt. baker.

Deputy Mark Jilk says a helicopter from the naval air station at Whidbey Island confirmed that one man had fallen and suffered fatal injuries.

He says rescue climbers tried to recover the fallen skier on Saturday...



The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Keith Hardy of Seattle.

Deputy Jilk says weather and mountain conditions will have to improve before rescuers can attempt another recovery.
