Bellingham Transient Injured In Knife Fight

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A transient Bellingham man is cut with a knife in a fight near the lighthouse mission.

Police Spokesman Mark Young says officers got the injured 72-year-old man’s side of the story after the altercation Tuesday morning, but police are still searching for the other man involved.

Young says the 72-year-old man was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries to his abdomen, but had to undergo surgery.

He says the man told him the dispute was over some money and prescription narcotics the injured man had lost.

Young says the men knew each other and it is unclear how the injured man was sliced in the altercation.
