AAA: Gas Prices On Downswing

OLYMPIA, Wash. (Metro)  -- Gas prices are moving lower as summer travel season goes into full swing.

Triple-A reports the national average of a gallon of regular gas stands at three-dollars-54-cents.

That's five cents below last week's price.

It's also 40 cents lower than the year's peak price of three-dollars-94-cents a gallon, reported in early April.

The travel group cites declining crude oil prices in reporting the downswing in fuel prices.

Motorists in Washington state pay the most for gas at four-dollars-16-cents a gallon.

South Carolina drivers get the best price at three-dollars-13-cents a gallon.
